Software Engineer in the IT-ITeS Industry is also known as a Developer, Software Analyst, Software Engineer, Systems Engineer, Programmer, Developer, Programmer Analyst.
Brief Job Description: Professionals in this role are responsible for using specialized knowledge of software programming languages, software integration and delivery platforms to develop softwares for embedded systems. The job also involves application enhancement, debugging, maintenance and documentation. The individual should be able to work in accordance with applicable coding standards, software development methodology and release processes.
Personal Attributes: This job requires the individual to work collaboratively in a team keeping usage requirements in mind. The individual should be organized and should possess good communication, interpersonal, analytical and team working skills. The individual should also be comfortable working with deadlines and budgets. The individual should be exceptionally adaptable to the new tools, systems, and technologies.

Guidelines for Assessment:
- Criteria for assessment for each Qualification Pack (QP) will be created by the Sector Skill Council (SSC). Each performance criteria (PC) will be assigned Theory and Skill/Practical marks proportional to its importance in NOS.
- The assessment will be conducted online through assessment providers authorised by SSC.
- Format of questions will include a variety of styles suitable to the PC being tested such as multiple choice questions, fill in the blanks, situational judgment test, simulation and programming test.
- To pass a QP, a trainee should pass each individual NOS. Standard passing criteria for each NOS is 70%.
